My Story
Barongo Collin, popularly known by his stage name Baroo, is a fast-rising Ugandan artist whose sound blends raw emotion with lyrical depth. Born on September 21, 1998, in Hoima District, Baroo is a proud Munyoro whose roots influence both his identity and his creative expression. Affectionately called Amooti in his community, he carries his heritage with pride while reaching for global stages.
Baroo’s journey into music began during his UCE level, inspired by international rap legends like Eminem and Lil Wayne. Their lyrical brilliance sparked a fire in him to begin writing his own songs. Over time, that passion evolved into purpose. As a student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Economics, Baroo never let the academic demands dim his dream. In fact, it was during his first and second years at university that he began miming at campus events — sharpening his stage presence, confidence, and unique style
In addition to global artists, Baroo also draws deep inspiration from Uganda’s music legend Bebe Cool, whose dominance and influence in the Ugandan music industry gave Baroo a homegrown model of success to aspire to.
